We are a species that evolved to look at the stars, yet we spend our lives staring at our shoes.

The greatest tragedy of our time is not a lack of resources or a lack of intelligence. It is a lack of happiness, born from a collective obsession with the mundane. We are melting away our potential on small, daily frictions — the commute, the administrative overhead, the endless optimization of trivial tasks. We have built the most advanced technological infrastructure in human history, only to use it to deliver food slightly faster or to keep people scrolling slightly longer.

When you realize this, everything else seems meaningless. We have forgotten how to think big.

This is not just a philosophical observation; it is an engineering failure. As a technology community, we are thinking too small. We are building incremental improvements when we should be building paradigm shifts. We celebrate unicorns that solve first-world inconveniences, while the fundamental mysteries of the universe remain locked away, waiting for a civilization bold enough to approach them.

Our ancestors knew this. They built the Acropolis and the Pyramids. They discovered mathematics and astronomy. They wrote epics like the Odyssey — texts that survived three millennia because they spoke of something universal and eternal. Most of these achievements were not the work of isolated geniuses. They were the work of communities that aligned around a common vision. Just as it happened with the COVID vaccines — when the world faced a common enemy, science that would normally take decades was completed in less than a year.

In the Stargate universe, humanity researched all galaxies and solar systems. In the Three-Body Problem, it is clearly shown how when all of humanity aligns towards a common goal, it can perform miracles. This is what I am asking for. That vision where together we can go further.

If we had a unified, pan-human community — a global consensus with shared funding dedicated to nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, and robotics — everything would be different. We wouldn’t be arguing about the ROI of enterprise software. We would be conquering our solar system within the next 200 years.

We need a new master plan.

Step 1 — Automate the Mundane

The true promise of Artificial Intelligence and robotics is not to replace human creativity. It is to liberate it.

For two decades, I have watched the tech industry chase the wrong metrics. We optimized for engagement when we should have optimized for freedom. The measure of great technology is not how many daily active users it captures — it is how many hours of human life it returns to the people who use it.

Large Language Models are not just autocomplete engines; they are the first generation of cognitive infrastructure — systems that can absorb context, reason across multiple domains, and act on behalf of humans. Agentic AI — systems that don’t just answer but plan, execute, and iterate — is the next level.

The Lesson of Architecture

I spent years during my PhD researching exactly this problem. I called it DeepGraphs — a framework where software agents could dynamically discover capabilities in digital objects. The Semantic Web gave us the right vision but the wrong engine. We were building cathedrals when the world needed roads.

The Missing Engine

The LLM gave us what we were missing: probabilistic reasoning at scale. The systems we must build now are hybrid: deterministic where precision matters, probabilistic where understanding matters. APIs as semantic contracts. Agents as collaborators.

This is the foundation. Automate the logistics of existence. Return time to humanity. And then, with that time, do something worthy.

Step 2 — The Pan-Human Infrastructure

We must stop building walled gardens and start building global engines.

The fragmentation of capital and intellect is the greatest obstacle to human progress. Today, the most talented engineers on the planet are distributed across thousands of competing companies, each solving a slightly different version of the same problem.

Think about what we have achieved when we chose to collaborate. The ancient Greeks did not discover geometry and astronomy in isolation — they built them upon knowledge shared, debated, and publicly challenged in the Agora. The Internet itself was born from ARPANET, a publicly funded, open network. The World Wide Web was invented at CERN and given to the world for free. The Human Genome Project mapped the entire human genome in 13 years. And the COVID vaccines were developed in less than a year — because for a brief, brilliant moment, the world had a common enemy and a common purpose.

Now imagine applying the same model to the three technologies that will define the next century:

This is exactly what we are doing today at Dialectica. Structuring human knowledge is not just a business activity; it is the foundation for the next step. It is the infrastructure upon which artificial intelligence will stand to understand the world.

But infrastructure without direction is not enough. We also need a goal.

Step 3 — The Universal Accelerator

My ultimate goal is the creation of an Artificial Intelligence designed specifically to accelerate our understanding of the universe. Not an AI that writes better code. An AI that reads the world.

The purpose of our existence is to understand the world. Whichever religion you look at, it speaks of understanding the Whole. They call it God, they call it the One, but the essence is always the same: the connection with the Whole. Science and spirituality ask the same question in a different language. The love for it, since all is one. As a species, we have this capability.

A horizon of 200 years is my vision. 200 years to have bases in the solar system and at its edges. And if we have touched the strings of the multiverse, to pass through them to other galaxies or other universes. To create our own universes.

The Fermi Paradox

If all this is possible, then why aren’t we swarming with other entities? Perhaps the Fermi Paradox has already been answered. Perhaps civilizations don’t go extinct from asteroids or wars. They go extinct from comfort. From choosing the optimization of the present over the exploration of the future. The inability to escape the gravity of the mundane is the Great Filter. Will we become that statistic?

The Technical Vision

An AI for universal understanding would build a unified model of physical reality — identifying the deep structural connections between quantum mechanics and general relativity, the mathematics linking thermodynamics with information theory, the principles that make faster-than-light travel not impossible but simply currently misunderstood.

The Commitment and the Legacy

I don’t know if this change will happen in my lifetime, or if my daughter or her children will see it. That is why I will start turning the wheel, so that others can continue after me.

My thought process begins with the pure flow of Heraclitus, passes to Protagoras, culminates in Nietzsche, and is transmuted in Kazantzakis. Inside me, I always struggle with an internal conflict: am I Zorba — Nietzsche’s Übermensch who lives life with passion and momentum — or am I simply a scholar observing the world? Whether I want to or not, I always carry Homer within me. This line of thought is not just philosophy; it is how I approach technology. It must have the wisdom of the scholar, but the momentum and audacity of Zorba.

My daughter will grow up in a world that I will have helped shape. If I let this generation squander its technological power on technology that exploits rather than liberates, what world am I handing over to her? I would have no greater joy than to manage to understand the universe and hand it over to my daughter. I dedicate my life to this.

I will build companies that look up, not down. I will invest in teams working on problems that matter on a civilizational scale. I will mentor the next generation of technology leaders and push them, relentlessly, to resist the gravity of the mundane.

My father was an inventor. He spent his life chasing ideas that most people considered impractical. I lost him too early. What I carry from him is not grief, but a mandate: do not waste the time you have been given on things that do not matter.

The universe is vast, ancient, and almost entirely unexplored. We are a young species on a small planet, equipped with remarkable minds and, increasingly, with remarkable machines. We have every tool we need to become something extraordinary.

If you are building technology that makes the world more addictive, you are part of the problem. If you are building technology that returns time to people, you are part of the solution. Choose. I am not asking you to agree with everything I write. I am asking you only one thing: the next time you make a decision — about your career, about your project, about what you will build — ask yourself: is this looking up or down?

I will not see the wheel complete its rotation. But I will have turned it. And somewhere, in 200 years, someone will stand at the edge of our solar system and look outward. They will not know my name. But they will stand there because we, today, chose to look up.

Someday my daughter will read this text. I hope she can say: “My father didn’t just build companies. He turned the wheel.” That, on the scale of the universe, is enough.
